The French Academy of Bergen County (FABC) opened on September 15th , 2007 to meet the growing needs of children and parents seeking a place to learn the French language and culture or to enhance and improve existing knowledge and skills. That was the beginning of the AfterSchool Program.

In September 2008, FABC opened the Preschool and a Kindergarten class. First grade will open in September 2009 and we'll keep growing with the children. Every year, a grade will be added.

We believe that learning a second language at an early age is a life-long advantage which will benefit our children both academically and cognitively. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive, nurturing, international learning environment where students can develop fully in both French and English.

We believe we can bring together the best of the two educational systems, French and American. Our mission is to offer a challenging academic program, enhancing self-esteem and confidence, and fostering curiosity and tolerance to other cultures.

We recognize and appreciate the important role the parents can provide in helping us achieve our goals. Together, faculty, parents and administration will work cooperatively and supportively to prepare our precious children to be responsible citizens of our multiple societies.

FABC is a non profit organization which is supported by the French government as part of the program Flam. We are in the process of accreditation by Middle States Association of Elementary Schools.

Today, FABC welcomes 92 children from 3 to 12 year olds, without counting the students from the adult program which started in January 2009.
