Welcome to the French Academy of Bilingual Culture.
My name is Anne-Sophie Gueguen. I’m the Founder and Head of the School.
When we opened our doors in 2007, our goal was to create a warm, nurturing, progressive school. We wanted to create a child-centered environment that used the dual lenses of French and English to inspire and cultivate open-mindedness, empathy and a love of learning that would last a lifetime.
Now, as we look forward to our fifth year, we’re excited to keep combining the best of both educational systems with more vigor and enthusiasm – and for more students, now around 220 children.
A few highlights
As we grow, we continue to offer more to our students. Here are a few highlights:
- We’ve opened a second campus in Morris Plains.
- We received the accreditation of the French Government for the preschool and Kindergarten classes. We submitted our application for the accreditation of the elementary grades.
- We are preparing the opening of a dual class, third and fourth grade in New Milford.
- We are expanding our enrichment program, offering sports, dance, theater, piano and now Mandarin.
- We are improving our services to the children and parents: home work help program in English and French, Basic Skills program (supplemental) and monthly meetings (IR&S) with interventions for children who need special interventions.
- We are increasing our commitment to an already-successful afterschool program. The program, which welcomes students after 4 pm on weekdays and on Saturdays, continues to offer wonderful ways for students to improve their French and comprehend another culture.
Thank you
Of course, we didn’t do this alone. Perhaps because of our small size, or as one parent said, the “utter uniqueness of the place,” our close-knit and passionate parents have helped create a community that reflects the welcoming spirit of our classrooms. It’s this partnership that has enabled us to do so much, so quickly. It is also what excites us to an even more exciting 2012.
Bilingualism is an invaluable opportunity for our children to fully develop, learn – and be raised – equally, in both languages. If you’re just learning about our school, I hope you’ll come by and take a tour.
I think you’ll like what you see. If you’re already part of our family, thank you. We’re looking forward to another great year together.
With warmth and gratitude,
Anne-Sophie Gueguen
