The French Academy launched a French nonprofit organization called The Friends of the French ABC.  The organization aims to reach out to all French families.

Our children are making great efforts in learning how to read and write in French. This effort goes a long way in maintaining relationships with their families — grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins. That’s why we would like to involve all members of the family and the friends in the children’s education.

Every year, we are spending a lot on books, manuals, cd rom, cds, notebooks to keep the language alive and the literature available.

The goals of the association are to:

• Participate in the development of French education abroad and reinforce cooperation between the two educational systems, French and American.
• Contribute to the influence of French culture and language.
• Provide educational or financial support to the schools providing a French education and environment.
• Create a scholarship fund to help families in temporary difficulties.
